JPC’s Kai shortlisted for Outstanding Apprentice of the Year

Kai Douglas, a John Perkins Carpentry Apprentice, has been shortlisted in the 2017 Bristol and Bath Apprenticeship Awards - one of just three finalists in his category.

apprenticeawards02The nomination for Outstanding Apprentice of the Year (Construction) reflects an impressive start to the apprenticeship for Kai. Previously, he had only completed basic, DIY carpentry skills at home, and he had been out of formal education for 12 years.

Kai joined John Perkins Construction in September 2016 as part of a Level 2 Carpentry Apprenticeship. Since then, he has excelled, achieving three distinctions in his practical exams and establishing himself as a confident and helpful member of the team.

Robert Yeandle, Managing Director of John Perkins Construction, comments: "Kai demonstrates a rare and commendable level of drive, self-motivation, and determination to succeed. He is always willing to learn and goes the extra mile on any given task."

He adds: "John Perkins Construction has a strong tradition of promoting from within and training our employees on the job. It is a key part of our ethos and Kai represents the positive impact that this attitude can have on a company. We plan to continue to support him through to the end of his apprenticeship and beyond. As this award nomination shows, Kai has a very bright future ahead of him."
