Making it happen

Clevedon Hall

Clevedon Hall is a Victorian mansion overlooking the sea and was initially built by a sea merchant. The ground floor of the property has been used as a wedding venue for many years with the top two floors being utilised as office space.

Jane Clayton & Company interior designers were tasked with restoring these upper two floors creating 25 bedrooms from the available space.

Each room has been individually considered, taking into account size, aspect and architectural features to create 25 different schemes. The firm have been careful to avoid a generic theme. Instead continuity between the rooms has been achieved through the type of furniture and furnishings selected and by working from a subtle and soft colour palette.

Over the past year the design team have worked with the architects and main contractors John Perkins to make the design brief a reality. Works are still ongoing but are on track for a late December finish.

The team have not touched the property's ground floor which already boasts stunning architectural features, including an old wood panelled library, beautiful, spacious rooms and many original features. The principal bridal rooms are located on the first floor and feature bay windows overlooking the gardens, hight ceilings, original features and high-spec facilities.

On the second floor the team have worked around the attic shaped rooms complimenting the quirky windows with comfortable attic window seats for guests to relax on. The schemes help to highlight the different architectural features in each space and provide guests with the best environment to unwind in.

"We are delighted to have been involved in restoring this building of historical significance to its former glory and hope that the owners, guests and local residents will be pleased with the work undertaken. The most rewarding aspect of this project has been working alongside the clients who have allowed us to take the lead on the design. They have been open to our suggestions and advice and it's been wonderful to work on a project where we can be so creative with our designs."
