John Perkins Construction carried out a £2.4 million negotiated contract for a significant residential new build on the outskirts of Bristol.
The state-of-the-art development of a private house, complete with swimming pool, home office and cinema as well as extensive landscaping - including a grey water recycling system for irrigation and air source heat pumps to use outside air as a heat source for heating and cooling - was completed to tight timescales.
"Working with the latest building management technology, the project was out to maximise energy efficiency and thereby reduce operating costs," explains Rupert Perkins, contracts director. "The installation of a KNX intelligent control system means the client controls - at the touch of an iPad - everything from the swimming pool cover and lights through to the air-conditioning and home cinema. Requiring considerable wiring from sensors to control and monitoring centres, it's been an exciting project to be involved with."
"With extensive cabling and support systems built into a relatively small building, this was a challenging project which also doubled in size from the outset. But, thanks to the efficiency and flexibility of the John Perkins team, we were only a few weeks over the original deadline. We chose the company because of its solid reputation for project management and high quality workmanship and they did not disappoint."
