New managing director and new outlook

1st August 2020 |

As of 1 August 2020, Rupert Perkins has stepped into the role of Managing Director. This is part of a long-planned reorganisation of the senior management team, which will lay the groundwork for John Perkins Construction’s continued growth.

Rupert, who has held the position of Contracts Director since 2000, has already assumed many of the duties of Managing Director over the past six months. As Rob Yeandle officially becomes the company’s Chairman, this month marks the final changeover.

Rupert Perkins“It’s an honour to take on the position of Managing Director and the responsibility for shaping our place within the construction industry,” comments Rupert Perkins. “I look forward to building on the great work of Rob, who has helmed the ship for the past 28 years.”

“These are extraordinary times, but it’s always the challenges that show you what you’re capable of,” he adds. “I’m pleased to report that John Perkins Construction has come through the COVID-19 crisis strongly, with government support and guidance from our bank helping us to weather the storm.”

The end of July marks the end of the company’s financial year. Alex Jenkins, Commercial Director, comments, “In a year of financial uncertainty, I’m delighted with the commercial performance of our teams over the last twelve months. This gives me every reason to believe we’ll be able to make a success of our pipeline of opportunities. Two recent project wins have cemented our return from lockdown, making us feel positive about the future.”

The company’s new managing director means a new outlook, with a focus on boosting efficiency and developing new systems for smarter working. However, the John Perkins values remain the same. “We are, above all, committed to honesty, openness, integrity and flexibility in everything we do,” says Rupert Perkins. “This is the ethos that Alex and I intend to drive forward in the coming months and years.”

Rupert adds: “We hope our clients, partners and associates, both old and new, will join us for the ride. If you haven’t spoken to us in a while, please pick up the phone and give us a call. We’d love to hear from you.”
